Current Drugstore Makeup Favorites
Over the past 6 months I have really taken an interest in the
world of makeup and now wear full face makeup looks
almost every single day. However, unlike the majority of the
beauty gurus on YouTube I do not have the budget for
high end products and must instead craft my makeup looks
using solely drugstore products. With that being said, using
affordable drugstore products has also really allowed me to
play around and experiment with many different brands to try
and find some ride or die products that deliver a flawless makeup
look every time. Keep reading to find out my current favorite drugstore products!
Primer: Elf mattifying primer
I know many of you makeup lovers out there will
cringe at this, but for years I would do my makeup,
foundation and all, without a single drop of primer
on my face. However, that has changed now and
after trying out many different primers this is one
that I keep in my permanent rotation. It does a great job
at keeping my oily skin under control and also helps keep
my makeup in place throughout the day.
Foundation: Maybelline SuperStay Foundation
Wet N Wild Photofocus Foundation
For my favorite drugstore foundation there are two that
I am constantly coming back to, the Maybelline SuperStay
Foundation (shade 112) and the Wet N Wild Photofocus
Foundation (shade Soft Ivory). The Maybelline foundation is a
full coverage foundation (one pump and you are more than covered)
that applies beautifully and doesn’t leave my skin feeling
weighed down with product. I usually save this foundation for
special events because it is full coverage and not one that I
want to wear everyday. Instead the Wet N Wild foundation is
the everyday foundation that I use. Being insanely pale, especially
in the winter months, I have struggled to find a foundation
that is light enough for my skin tone. At least, that was until I
found this foundation. And not only is it pale enough for my
skin tone, but it also provides a nice light to medium coverage
(depending on how much you apply) and helps reduce photo flashbacks.
Concealer: Makeup Revolution Conceal and Define Concealer (Shade C1)
This concealer covers absolutely everything and I also hear
that it a great drugstore dupe for the beloved Tarte
Shape Tape. Just keep in mind that it is a slightly thicker
formula so a little bit goes a long way with this.
Powder: Maybelline Fit Me Loose Finishing Powder (Shade 05 Fair)
This is a literal magic powder. I have yet to find another
drugstore powder that is able to smooth any imperfections
on my skin as well as this one does and it also
leaves my skin feeling insanely soft.
Bronzer: Maybelline City Bronzer & Contour Powder (Shade 100)
Being as pale as I am, finding a bronzer that doesn't make
me look like an oompa loompa is a big task. However, the
city bronzer from Maybelline applies nicely and does a
great job at providing me with the soft, natural
bronzed contour that I prefer.
Blush: Butter Blush from Physician’s Formula (Shade Vintage Rouge)
After trying out the butter bronzer and liking it
(although a light hand is definitely a must with that one!)
I decided to give the butter blush a try and I am so glad
that I did. This is the perfect blush to help provide my
cheeks with a nice, natural flush of color.
(Quick note: A little of this goes a long way!)
Highlighter: e.l.f. Shimmer Highlighting Powder (Shade Pearl Glow)
The main things I look for in a highlighter are whether it
provides a semi natural looking shine and whether my
face will look like it fell into a pool of glitter after application
(don't get me wrong, I like a little bit of shimmer, but I
don't have a strong desire to look like a Cullen). This
highlighter from e.l.f. checks all the boxes providing a nice
bright highlight that you can actually see on my pale skin
and applies very easily using either a brush or your fingers.
Eyebrows: Maybelline Brow Pencil (Shade Blonde)
For some unknown reason, I already have fairly dark eyebrows
when you consider my hair color so my main concern with
eyebrows is getting the right shape rather than the right
amount of fill. This brow product, which has both a pencil
and a brush to help define and fill your brows all at once,
really does a great job at helping me define the shape of my
brows easily and without spending loads of time on them.
Mascara: Maybelline Mega Plush Volume Express and Maybelline Lash Rocket
(Shades Blackest Black)
Right now my favorite for mascara is a combination of the
Maybelline Mega Plush mascara, which does a great job
of plumping and spreading out my lashes, and
Maybelline Lash Rocket mascara, which I use to add
even more definition to my lashes and lash line.
Eyeliner: Maybelline Master Precise All Day Liquid Liner (Shade Black)
Maybelline Unstoppable Eyeliner (Shade Onyx)
Even though I wear winged eyeliner almost everyday
I am far from being a pro at creating it so I need to have
an eyeliner that can be used effectively by any makeup
noob. The Maybelline precise is my ride or die, holy grail
eyeliner with its great color payoff and stiff tip that doesn't
move during application. The Maybelline Unstoppable
eyeliner is my go-to when it comes to lining the waterline.
I like the pigmentation it delivers and the twist
up packaging of the liner.
Eyeshadow: e.l.f. Mad for Matte Eyeshadow Palette (Nude Mood)
This palette is a great neutrals palette that you can use
to create almost any eye look that you want and is the
one that I reach for (and will continue to reach for) every morning.
Even though this palette is on the cheaper end of things
these shadows apply with ease and have great pigmentation.
False Lashes: Ardell Lashes
This was the first year that I have tried out false lashes
and now I don’t think I can ever go back. I initially tried
magnetic lashes cause I heard they were easier for
beginners, but after struggling with them for hours to
no avail I gave these false lashes from Ardell a chance
and have been wearing them ever since. I love these
lashes because even though they are the ones you have
to glue on I think they are easy to apply and they are able
to enhance my lashes while still looking fairly natural.
Lipstick: Maybelline Color Sensational Matte Lipstick
Nyx Liquid Suede Liquid Lipstick
(Best lip liner is hands down Nyx Suede Matte Lip Liner)
These two lipsticks are my absolute favorites for
numerous reasons. Even though they are both different
formulas (one is a liquid lipstick and one is a normal cream lipstick)
they both apply smoothly, have a great color payoff,
feel great on my lips, and they last all day long with little
to no transfer. Also, the nyx suede lip liners are my go-to
for lining my lips because they look great, apply
easily, and I love that they can be sharpened.
Setting Spray: Maybelline Stay Matte Lasting Fix Setting Spray
This setting spray from Maybelline does everything
that it advertises by keeping my oily skin a little more
under control and also helping to keep my makeup from
coming off even after wearing a full face of
makeup for longer than 16 hours.
There you have it! My current drugstore faves!
