Foodie Friday: Jazz A Louisiana Kitchen - Kansas City, Kansas
Last weekend I went on a weekend trip to Kansas City with some friends
to find a little Halloween fun and while we were there we stopped at
Legends to eat at the Cajun restaurant Jazz. Some of the best food I have
had was down in NOLA so I was pretty excited to give this place a try.
Scroll on down to see what we all thought!

We walked through the door to Jazz and the décor inside immediately
transported us down to New Orleans. We were seated quickly at an
open table in the middle of the restaurant and started to peruse their
huge menu of food which included a TON of seafood options as well as some
non-seafood picks suitable for someone who might be allergic or just not a fan like myself.
.
.
We sat and listened to the live band eating some complimentary bread
.
.
and then the rest of the group ordered some cocktails and an appetizer of fried pickles.
.
.
Then it was time for our group of 6 to put in our main orders. Starting
us out was Tyler who got the Cajun beef stir fry.
.
.
Brittany went next and got the seafood fettucine.
.
.
I was next ordering an andouille po'boy with a side of new potatoes and hushpuppies.
.
.
After me was Skyler who ordered the chicken a la mer (a Jazz specialty)
with a side of mashed potatoes and gravy.
.
.
Following Skyler was his wife Shelby who ordered the fettucine alfredo.
.
.
And then finally, rounding out the table, was Alexis who ordered the
Cajun chicken strips with a side of mashed potatoes and gravy and hushpuppies.
.
.
After we finished our main dishes I knew I wanted an order of beignets
so I got an order of four for the table.

Reviews:
.
Brittany and Tyler had both been to this restaurant before so they already
knew they liked the place and Brittany told me her order of the shrimp
fettucine was her favorite thing to get even though it is a wee bit spicy.
She said since it contains crab, shrimp, and scallops it covers all of her seafood cravings.
.
Skyler was skeptical of his food saying he hoped it tasted better than it
looked and after the first bite he found he got exactly what he was hoping
for. In the end he said it was really good and he ended up joining the clean plate club.
.
Overall the consensus from the table was that the food was really good
although each had quite a bit of spice to it. However, it sounded like everyone
would come back to eat here again.

Jazz Stats:
Service: 4/5
Food: 3/5
Cleanliness/Décor: 5/5
Price: $$
Overall Rating: 4/5

Walking into Jazz I immediately felt like I was back in New Orleans, a place
I cannot wait to return to someday, so for that reason I had to give the décor
a 5/5. Everywhere you looked it was a little chaotic, but it screamed NOLA
and the live band was a really nice addition.
Our server was pretty good and I have to say I was
impressed by his ability to remember all of our orders without writing any of it
down. As for food I have always been a fan of andouille so it came as no shock
that I liked it on the sandwich. I wasn't a huge fan of the sauce piquant on it though
and y'all it was SPICY (granted I am a wimp when it comes to spicy foods lol). The
new potatoes were bland, but that was expected, the hushpuppies were good, and
the beignets could have rivaled the beignets from Café du Monde. My favorite part
of the whole meal though was, probably to no one's surprise, the bread. lol
I'm a carb-o-holic, what can I say? lol Overall I have
to say I enjoyed my experience at Jazz even though I am not a seafood fan and
I think they have some good options on their menu for
everyone. I would go back to eat here again!
