The Ice Cream

As a VERY indecisive person the word “flight” at any restaurant is sure to catch my attention. However, at an ice cream shop it is almost a 100% guarantee that I will be ordering it like I did here at Dagney’s. This time for my 3 flavor flight I went with the peanut butter chocolate chip, the non-dairy dark chocolate, and the mango.

I’m going to bring you through the flavors in the same route I took eating them so we are kicking off this review with the mango. To be honest for whatever reason I was totally expecting this to be more of a sorbet. Instead it was vanilla ice cream with chunks of mango in it and it was absolutely fantastic. I do think the vanilla flavor outweighed the mango a tiny bit too much, buuuuut I LOVE mango so the answer will always be, much like with cowbells, more please. Next I ventured on to the non-dairy dark chocolate. This one fully captured the dark chocolate flavor making it an absolute joy to eat and, while I didn’t have the dairy one to compare to, I think it is safe to say that you wouldn’t be able to tell a flavor difference between the two. Finally we have the peanut butter chocolate chip. This one was definitely my favorite of the 3 I had. The peanut butter was certainly the star of the show, but the chocolate chips were a wonderful addition helping keep the ice cream from feeling too heavy and rich. I could easily sit and eat almost a whole pint of it while curled up on my couch.

This was my second visit to Dagney’s and this trip has only solidified them as my go to place when craving ice cream in Salina. Not only do they have some unique flavors, but you can tell their ice cream is homemade which really adds to the overall enjoyability of each scoop. Their staff is also extremely nice AND, because like many kids I too love a novelty thing, so I feel it is important to note that their spoons are color changing. COLOR. CHANGING. SO STINKING COOL! Anyway, go check out Dagney’s in Salina!
